JFS at Home Names Ivan Gefen Chair of Board of Directors

JFS at Home, a nonprofit home healthcare agency dedicated to helping older adults maintain their independence, safety and quality of life, has named longtime community leader Ivan Gefen Chair of its Board of Directors. Gefen succeeds Ed Levine, who provided dedicated leadership and guidance during his tenure as Chair.

Gefen brings decades of nonprofit leadership, community involvement and financial expertise to the role. A member of the JFS at Home Board since the organization’s inception in 2016, he has played an important role in supporting its growth and advancing its mission to help older adults age safely and comfortably in their own homes, according to Marissa Gordon, the organization’s CEO and Administrator.

“I am deeply honored to serve as Chair of JFS at Home,” said Gefen, who previously served as Board Secretary. “Having been involved with the organization from the beginning, I have seen firsthand the extraordinary care, compassion and peace of mind it provides to older adults and their families. I look forward to working with Marissa, our fellow Board members and the entire JFS at Home team to build upon that strong foundation and expand our impact throughout the community.”

Gefen grew up on Long Island and moved to South Florida 50 years ago, settling in Boca Raton in 1993. After beginning his professional career in the garment manufacturing industry, he became an independent wealth and investment manager and has worked in the field for more than 40 years.

His extensive community involvement includes serving as a past Chair of Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services. He has also served on the boards of the Jewish Federation and JARC Florida and has been involved with the Special Olympics. Gefen is married and has three children and five grandchildren.

“Ivan’s long-standing commitment to JFS at Home, his deep understanding of our mission and his exceptional record of community leadership make him uniquely qualified to serve as Chair,” said Gordon. “He has been part of our journey since the very beginning, and we are excited to work alongside him as we continue strengthening and expanding the services that allow older adults to live with dignity and independence.”

Gordon also recognized Levine for his service and contributions to the organization.

“We are profoundly grateful to Ed Levine for his dedicated leadership as Chair,” Gordon added.“His insight, advocacy and commitment have helped position JFS at Home for continued growth and success. Ivan’s appointment builds upon that strong legacy and ensures important continuity as we enter our next chapter.”

As Chair, Gefen will work closely with JFS at Home’s leadership and Board of Directors to provide strategic guidance, strengthen community partnerships and support the organization’s continued growth in response to the evolving needs of older adults and their families.
